Identify Fault Codes for Your LG Dishwasher

Your LG dishwasher is a trusted and often-used appliance in your kitchen. Yet, for various reasons, it can display error codes when things go wrong. These codes appear when the dishwasher is experiencing problems and in order to address the issue at hand, you need to know what each code stands for. This is why we’ve prepared this guide for LG dishwasher troubleshooting problems to help you resolve them seamlessly and get back to having clean crockery and cutlery once again.

LG dishwasher error codes

LG dishwashers will display a number of codes to help signal when something is wrong. These codes are the first aspect you should look at in order to troubleshoot a problem more accurately. Here’s a list of the most common fault codes you may see on your LG dishwasher.

OE: Drain issue

An OE error on an LG dishwasher is often the result of either food clogs or an installation issue. To resolve this, it’s advisable that you check for food debris and clean the dishwasher well, after which you should run a spin cycle on a “Heavy Duty” or “Normal” programme to check if the problem persists. Other things you can do include cleaning the filter, checking the drain hose, checking the airbag or forcing the drain.

1E: Water level is insufficient

An LG dishwasher error E1 signals a problem with the dishwasher filling up with water. Essentially, it means that the dishwasher did not fill properly after 10 minutes. Be sure to check that the water supply valve is turned on and that the water line is not kinked or bent. The water pressure should also be checked and if you are unable to do this yourself, it’s advisable to get in touch with a professional.

AE/E1: Overflow error

If you see this code, it’s a signal that there’s a possible leak from your dishwasher unit. This is usually a result of overflow that is caused by the unit not being level or you’re using the wrong type or amount of detergent. It’s important to check the leveling of the unit itself as well as check the owner’s manual for the right type of detergent of dishwasher tablets to use.

LE/CE: Motor error

An LE error code on an LG dishwasher is an indicator of motor issues. You should first turn the dishwasher off followed by switching off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher for around 10 seconds. Next, switch the circuit breaker back on followed by switching the dishwasher on again. If the error persists, you need to call in a professional.

Cr: Test mode

Your LG dishwasher is in test mode if you see the “Cr” code. It’s usually used by experienced repair technicians who press three buttons simultaneously to check the unit. You can switch the appliance off and on again after waiting for one to two minutes to see if the code will disappear. If the test mode code does not disappear, please consult an expert.

bE: Improper detergent use or leveling

Ensure that the dishwasher unit is level and that you are not using dishwashing liquid in your dishwasher. Rather use the manufacturer approved dishwashing pods or tablets to avoid excessive sudsing.

FE: Fill error

This error code appears when the unit is too full of water and the drain pump automatically turns on. Follow the instructions mentioned above for error code LE/CE.

HE: Heater error

A heater error occurs when the unit is unable to heat or the temperature exceeds 149 Fahrenheit. To troubleshoot this issue, follow the same instructions as mentioned above for error code LE/CE.

nE: Vario rotor issue

This issue is connected to the optimal functioning of the dishwasher’s rotor arm. Consult an experienced technician if you see this error.

PF: Power failure

This may happen if the circuit breaker is unable to support the electrical requirements of the unit. Check the power supply and do not use extension cords. Consult a professional if the issue persists.

tE: Thermal error

A thermal error code will appear if the water temperature is above 194 Fahrenheit or if there is a thermistor issue. This problem will need to be addressed by an experienced professional.

2H: Time indicator

This is not an error code and subsequently does not require repairs. If you see this code, it means that there are two hours or less left of the cleaning cycle or programme.

CL: Child lock/Control lock

This is not an error code. Rather, it is a code that signals that the unit has been locked and activated for safety reasons to prevent children from getting hurt.

01-24: Delay start activated

This is not an error code. It simply indicates the number of hours for which the cycle has been delayed. You can activate a new cycle by simply pressing cancel and starting a new programme.

P1, P2, P3 or P4: Download cycle

These are not error codes. The numbers represent the fact that the download cycle has been downloaded.
