Tecnik Dishwasher Problems And Troubleshooting

When your Tecnik dishwasher starts to experience operating issues it’s helpful to know what may be causing the difficulties – even if you can’t remedy them yourself. See a range of common Tecnik dishwasher problems and troubleshooting here …

Tecnik dishwasher faults

Tecnik dishwasher blocked   When food residue gets trapped in the filters and hasn’t been cleared away this can result in a blockage in the pump. This causes the water not to be pumped out of the dishwasher and will be visible covering the filter. Any food debris is normally located near the impeller – the rotor that increases the pressure and flow of water. Constant food blockage may result in the pump being damaged and ultimately may have to be repaired or replaced.   Tecnik dishwasher not draining   The most common three reasons why your dishwasher won’t drain are dirty filters, a blocked drain hose, or a defective drain pump. Filters are an integral part of the appliance and can quickly trap food particles and excess grease, and will become blocked if not regularly cleaned. A drain hose that has become obstructed will prevent your dishwasher from draining. If this is the case it will need to be removed from the appliance and the sink drain to clear the blockage. The problem may be with a blocked kitchen sink which would also affect the ability of the dishwasher to drain. A build-up of foreign objects as well as food remnants in the drain pump can also result in the dishwasher not draining. If this is the case you will most likely be able to hear the pump struggling to function. A repair or replacement of this component can be complex, so is best left to an appliance repair specialist.   Tecnik dishwasher not heating water   Typically, this fault is related to the heating element or the thermostat. The heating element or flow-through heater control the water temperature and help with the drying process. If it burns out or suffers from an electrical or wiring fault it will need to be replaced. The thermostat is the other part that can commonly cause the water not to heat. The thermostat regulates the temperature throughout the wash cycle, and if defective won’t be able to communicate with the heating element to turn on and off to keep the required water temperature. Using a multimeter will determine which of these two parts is at fault, and both can be quickly repaired or replaced as necessary by a repair engineer. Bear in mind that if your dishwasher has a hot water supply the issue may not be with the dishwasher itself, but a problem elsewhere. If the hottest wash programme is actually working then the maximum temperature may be exceeded – this will result in the dishwasher detecting this and shortening the wash cycle. Tecnik dishwasher troubleshooting also covers:   Tecnik dishwasher not starting   If the appliance is switched on but won’t start this often indicates an issue with the power supply. This could be a faulty power socket pr plug, or a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Any electrical issues should be safely handled by a qualified engineer. Alternatively, there may be a problem with the door not closing properly. This is a safety feature that stops the dishwasher from overflowing resulting from a door not securely shutting. Programme buttons and water taps are also possible culprits, alongside a blocked strainer in the water intake hose.
