Kitchenaid Dishwasher Problems And Troubleshooting

Kitchenaid brings you a selection of dishwashers from freestanding to integrated options. They’re powerful, quiet, and inspired by professional kitchens. But like all appliances, they can develop operating issues. Look at a range of Kitchenaid dishwasher problems and troubleshooting here…

Kitchenaid dishwasher not draining

Reasons for this include a defective drain pump which will need to be replaced, a blocked drain valve that allows adequate water flow, or an obstructed drain hose that will prevent water from draining away. Bear in mind that if your garbage disposal is connected to your dishwasher and becomes clogged it will need to be cleared for everything to work properly.

Kitchenaid dishwasher start button not working

This can be caused by the control lock being turned on and must be turned off immediately by holding the control lock feature down for around five seconds. The dishwasher could also be in sleep mode or the delay wash option selected. More complex issues can be with the door that may not completely close and latch securely or a problem with the water supply. Your dishwasher won’t start no matter how many times you press the start button if the water supply is turned off. An issue with the start button itself may result in a replacement touchpad and control panel.

Kitchenaid dishwasher rinse aid dispenser not filling

If you find your dishes aren’t as clean as normal this may be due to a problem with the rinse aid dispenser. The dispenser can quickly get a build-up of sticky residue which needs to be removed, or the water may not be hot enough to dissolve the detergent. The rinse aid cap could be the culprit as this can become loose or warped from the heat. In this case, it will need replacing.

Kitchenaid dishwasher not cleaning

Kitchenaid dishwasher troubleshooting not cleaning can simply be due to a loading problem as overcrowding restricts access to water and detergent resulting in dirty dishes. If your appliance is leaving food residues it can be related to a blocked filter, obstructed spray arms, or even a dirty tub. To clean optimally your dishwasher needs the right amount of water at the correct temperature and pressure. If the water isn't hot enough this could be caused by a failing water heater. If the water pressure is too low the water inlet valve won’t function and may even be broken. Spray arms can also crack and limit water access.

Kitchenaid dishwasher control panel not working

If your dishwasher display is working but some of the buttons don't respond the touchpad may be at fault or it could be an issue with the main control board. Electricity problems are a common cause and will trip the circuit breaker, or there could be child lock activation issues.

Kitchenaid dishwasher LED lights not working

There could be an issue with the circuit breaker tripping again here as the majority of problems are electricity-related. The power supply, sockets, switches and fuses will all need to be checked to ensure that the indicator lights work properly.

Kitchenaid dishwasher not drying

If a technical fault is preventing your dishwasher from drying the dishes properly it will typically be related to water temperature as dishes won’t be heated up to dry by evaporation.
