New Years Eve Fireworks in London – A Guide for Where to Watch

London Eye

Want to see 2017 in with a bang? There are so many ways to find spectacular views of the world famous firework displays in London. Use this guide to find out just where to watch New Year’s Eve London fireworks:

London Eye, Jubilee Gardens, and South Bank.

On Saturday 31st December, after Big Ben chimes the midnight hour, you’ll be able to watch an impressive 12-minute show of the most spectacular display of firepower that lights up the sky for miles around. The show starts at 9.00pm with DJs playing special soundtracks of the Years hits, and they’ll keep on performing until the end! Tickets will go very quickly but if you’re staying in one of the nearby hotels you’ll be issued with an entry pass. The London Eye is open from 10.00am – 3.00pm on New Year’s Eve and this sleek, modern 135-foot tall riverside wheel is right next to where the celebrations take place. The best views are from Victoria Embankment, the South bank, and Westminster and Waterloo Bridges.

Cannon Street, Tower Bridge, and Parliament Hill

Christmas Fair

In the midst of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Mansion House, you’ll be able to find a spot to witness the fabulous explosive light show without having to pay! Although it’s outside the ticketed area, it’s still a prime site. Tower Bridge has a fantastic cheery atmosphere and stunning views, the only drawback being the huge crowds. You could even choose to travel a little further away to Parliament Hill if you prefer to avoid the crowds, and still get to see the city scenery as well as the New Year celebrations. Here you’ll also find private fireworks parties which will add to the enjoyment.

Party Venues

Get to see the sensational displays from parties held on top levels, private terraces, or from the front seat of a boat! The Aqua Shard invites you to a five-course dinner, champagne, and live music all found on level 31 with a 270-degree view of London. The Sky Bar is offering cocktails, and food stalls with Spanish, American, and British dishes. A vintage New Year’s Eve party will be held at the Royal Festival Hall with a private terrace overlooking the fireworks - they’ll be dancing, dining, and a whole host of other activities. If you prefer the waterways, you’ll be greeted with a glass of bubbly and be able to sit on a boat and enjoy the fireworks and the music to send off 2016 in style! Check out more events at SushiSamba, Tattersall Castle, and Hutongs Chinese Restaurant.

Primrose Hill

Enjoy wonderful views of London from the top of Primrose Hill! If you need a friendly pub to call in on your way try The Sir Richard Steele – a beautiful Victorian building – serving combinations of contemporary and hearty main courses. The Princess of Wales has recently been renovated and is a warm and welcoming local pub, and The Lansdowne is offering a special New Year’s Eve menu. Don’t forget you’ll need to arrive at any of your preferred destinations early to make sure you get the best view.
